Comparison
DomainVigil or Domains Defender?
Domains Defender is the closest French-language service to ours: same job, same audience, European hosting on both sides. Here are the differences, without picking only the flattering ones.
Information about Domains Defender was collected from their public website on 25 August 2026. Their prices are quoted excluding VAT, ours including it: the two columns are therefore not directly comparable to the euro. Anything absent from their site is written “not stated” — never “they don't do it”.

| Free plan | 5 domains, with no time limit | 7-day trial, no permanent free plan |

| Around 25-30 domains | $15 incl. tax / month for 30 domains | €19.99 excl. VAT / month for 25 domains |
| Large portfolio | $49 incl. tax / month for 150 domains, then 100 more for $10 | €49.99 excl. VAT / month, unlimited domains |

What Domains Defender does better
These are real differences, not token concessions. On these four points they are ahead today.
- Nine free tools against our five, and over a wider scope: HTTP headers, Web Vitals, sensitive files, redirect chains.
- A browser extension to run a check from any page. With us, you have to open the site or the app.
- Hosting in France. Our servers are in Germany: same European Union, same GDPR framework, but if your specification demands French soil, the question is settled.
- An unlimited-domain plan, which we do not have: beyond 150 domains we bill extensions.
What DomainVigil does better
Price per domain and check frequency are our two clearest gaps. The third does not compare: nobody else offers it.
- A permanent free plan of 5 domains. You can monitor your domains forever without paying, and decide later — not within seven days.
- Price per domain: $15 for 30 domains against €19.99 excluding VAT for 25. For an equivalent portfolio, the gap is roughly threefold once VAT is accounted for.
- Availability checked every 5 minutes on our mid-tier plan, where theirs states six hours. During an outage, that is the difference between learning it before the client and learning it from them.
- The copilot: on every alert, a likely cause, a three-step course of action and who should act. Their site states incident tracking with a probable cause; a written course of action is not stated there.
- The per-client portfolio: every domain filed under its client, designed for an agency managing on others' behalf rather than for its own sites.
How to choose, honestly
Choose Domains Defender if French hosting is a contractual requirement, if you need a generic webhook to plug in your own tools, or if your portfolio runs well beyond 150 domains and the unlimited plan works out cheaper.
Choose DomainVigil if you want to start without paying and without a countdown, if your portfolio sits between five and a hundred and fifty domains, if you want to know a site is down in minutes rather than hours, or if you want an alert that tells you what to do and not only what is wrong.
And if you are torn: our five free tools require no account, and their free trial requires no commitment. Nothing stops you trying both before deciding.
